PRIVACY INTRODUCTION

StarTowels cares deeply about your privacy. We therefore only process data that we need for (improving) our services and treat information collected about you and your use of our services with care. We never make your data available to third parties for commercial purposes. This privacy policy applies to the use of the StarTowels website and the services accessed on it. The effective date for the validity of these terms is 01/01/2023, with the publication of a new version the validity of all previous versions will expire. This privacy policy describes what data about you is collected by us, what this data is used for and with whom and under what conditions, if any, this data may be shared with third parties. Webshop software Shopify

Our online store is developed with software from Shopify. Personal data that you make available to us for our services are shared with this party. Shopify has access to your data to provide us with (technical) support, they will never use your data for any other purpose. Based on the agreement we have with them, Shopify is obliged to take appropriate security measures. These security measures include the use of SSL encryption and a strong password policy. Shopify is a certified processor of credit card data. Shopify uses cookies to collect technical information regarding your use of the software, no personal data is collected and/or stored. Shopify reserves the right to share collected data within its own corporate group to further improve its services. Shopify takes into account the applicable legal retention periods for (personal) data. The EU/US Privacy Shield applies, your data may be processed in the United States.

Email and mailing lists Shopify

We send our newsletters and transactional emails using our web store software 'Shopify'. All confirmation emails you receive from our website and web forms are sent through Shopify's servers. Shopify will never use your name and email address for its own purposes. At the bottom of every email sent automatically through our website you will see the 'unsubscribe' link. If you click on this you will no longer receive email from our website. This can seriously reduce the functionality of our website! Your personal data is securely transmitted, stored and accessed by Shopify. Shopify uses cookies and other Internet technologies that provide insight into whether emails are opened and read. In addition, Shopify processes information about you as a recipient and the subject line of emails to improve the quality of service, this data is stored for 30 days. Shopify reserves the right to use your data to further improve the service and in this context share information with third parties.

Gmail

We use the services of Gmail for our regular business email traffic. This party has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent abuse, loss and corruption of your and our data as much as possible. Gmail has no access to our inbox and we treat all our email traffic confidential.

Payment processors 

For processing payments in our online store we use the platform of Shopify Payments. Shopify Payments processes your name, address and place of residence and your payment details such as your bank account number. Shopify Payments has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. Shopify Payments reserves the right to use your data to further improve its services and, as part of this, share (anonymized) data with third parties. Shopify Payments shares personal data and information regarding your financial position with credit rating agencies in the case of an application for a deferred payment (credit facility). All of the above safeguards regarding the protection of your personal data also apply to those parts of Shopify Payments's services for which they engage third parties. Shopify Payments will not retain your data for longer than permitted by the legal time limits.

Reviews Loox

We collect reviews through Loox's plug-in. If you leave a review via Loox you are required to provide your name and email address. Loox shares this information with us so that we can link the review to your order. Loox publishes your name on our website. In some cases, Loox may contact you to provide an explanation of your review. In the event that we invite you to leave a review, we share your name and email address with Loox. They only use this information for the purpose of inviting you to leave a review. Loox has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. Loox reserves the right to use third parties for the purpose of providing the service, we have given Loox permission to do so. All the above guarantees regarding the protection of your personal data also apply to those parts of the service provision for which Loox engages third parties.

Invoicing and e-Bookkeeping

We use the services of e-Bookkeeping to keep our records and accounts. We share your name, address and residence information and details regarding your order. This data is used for the administration of sales invoices. Your personal data is transmitted and stored in a protected manner. e-Bookkeeping is bound to secrecy and will treat your data confidentially. e-Bookkeeping does not use your personal data for purposes other than those described above.

General purpose of processing

We use your data exclusively for the purpose of our services. This means that the purpose of processing is always directly related to the order you provide. We do not use your data for (targeted) marketing. If you share data with us and we use this data - other than at your request - to contact you at a later time, we will ask you explicit permission to do so. Your data will not be shared with third parties other than to meet accounting and other administrative obligations. These third parties are all bound to confidentiality by virtue of the agreement between them and us or an oath or legal obligation.

Data collected automatically

Data automatically collected by our website is processed for the purpose of further improving our services. This data (e.g. your IP address, web browser and operating system) is not personal data.

Fiscal and criminal investigations.

Where appropriate, StarTowels may be required by law to share your data in connection with government tax or criminal investigations. In such a case, we are forced to share your data, but we will oppose this within the possibilities provided by law.

Retention periods

We will retain your data for as long as you are our client. This means that we will keep your client profile until you indicate that you no longer wish to use our services. If you indicate this to us, we will also interpret this as a request to forget. We are required by applicable administrative requirements to retain invoices containing your (personal) data, so we will retain this data for the duration of the applicable term. However, employees no longer have access to your client profile and documents we have produced as a result of your assignment.

Your rights

Pursuant to applicable Dutch and European legislation, as a data subject you have certain rights with respect to the personal data processed by us or on our behalf. We explain below which rights these are and how you can invoke these rights. In principle, to prevent misuse, we only send copies and transcripts of your data to your e-mail address already known to us. In the event that you wish to receive the data at a different e-mail address or by post, for example, we will ask you to identify yourself. We keep records of processed requests, in the case of a forgetting request we administer anonymized data. You will receive all transcripts and copies of data in the machine-readable data format we use within our systems. You have the right at any time to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Authority if you suspect that we are using your personal data incorrectly.

You can make a request to that effect to our contact person for privacy matters. You will receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you a copy of all data with an overview of the processors holding this data, stating the category under which we have stored this data, at the e-mail address known to us. You can make a request to this effect to our contact person for privacy matters. You will receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you a confirmation at the e-mail address known to us that the data has been adjusted.

Right to restriction of processing

You always have the right to restrict the data we process (or have processed) that relates to your person or can be traced back to you. You can make a request to this effect to our contact person for privacy matters. You will receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you a confirmation at the e-mail address known to us that the data will no longer be processed until you lift the restriction.

Right to transferability

You always have the right to have the data we process (or have processed) that relates to your person or can be traced back to you, carried out by another party. You can make a request to this effect to our contact person for privacy matters. You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you, at the e-mail address known to us, copies or transcripts of all data about you that we have processed or have processed on our behalf by other processors or third parties. In all likelihood, we will no longer be able to continue providing services in such a case, as the secure interconnection of data files can no longer be guaranteed.

Right of objection and other rights

You have the right to object, in appropriate cases, to the processing of your personal data by or on behalf of StarTowels. If you object, we will immediately cease data processing pending the resolution of your objection. If your objection is well-founded, we will make copies and/or copies of data that we process (or have processed) available to you and thereafter cease processing permanently.
